China Glaze — Sin-derella (Nail Lacquer) Swatch & Review

Collection: China Glaze 2017 Fall, Happily Never After (Halloween)

Have I got a gorgeous polish for you guys, today!

China Glaze recently released their Halloween-themed collection, which incorporates some clever fairy tale darkness. (Seriously, those original fairy tales are pretty gruesome!)

Sin-derella (84080) is a shimmery shade with loads of iridescence. The base color is a beige-y taupe, but it picks up a slightly olive tone with the addition of some fine gold shimmer. It also contains a load of pink shimmer that, in combination with taupe, gives it the look of lavender.

New Release & Haulage: China Glaze — Happily Never After (Halloween 2017)

Collection: China Glaze 2017 Halloween, Happily Never After

China Glaze’s devilishly clever Halloween 2017 collection is named Happily Never After, with a spooky fairy tale theme.

Celebrate your dark side with Happily Never After, a sultry collection of enchanting shades.

OK, that copy is a little less clever. Oh well.

But I think it’s so refreshing to have a Halloween collection that isn’t all orange, green, and black!

[Edit: I have now reviewed Sin-derella.]

Here are the 6 new shades:

News: My New Review Blog at Julesfifty

Hope everyone is having a fun Halloween!

My peanut is going trick-or-treating for the first time this year. He’s going as Batman—I totally got him to do the Christian Bale “I’m Batman!” growl—and he’ll be using a Jack-O-lantern pail that my brothers used back when they were kids, so it’s got to be at least twenty years old.

I just wanted to mention that I’ve started a new blog for non-beauty product reviews at Julesfifty, and the first two reviews are Halloween-related (well, just about). I hope you’ll go check it out if you’re interested in home goods, food & drink, baby & kid stuff, movies & TV, and whatever random things I’m interested in at the moment.

I thought about giving out the Meiji biscuits as Halloween treats, but it turns out it’s a good thing I didn’t! My Halloween goodies this year do include Hot Wheels cars, Frozen & My Little Pony sticker packs, Crayola markers, and the usual yummy treats like Snickers, Rolos, KitKats, Minions-branded cookies, and chocolate-free Lucky Charms granola bars. I did manage to save a Bounty bar for the husband and myself to share…

I hope you’ll join me over at julesfifty.com/blog, and have a safe and awesome Halloween!

Zoya Professional Lacquer in Pia, swatch

Throwback Thursday! Zoya — Pia (Professional Lacquer) Swatch & Review

Collection: Zoya 2007 Summer, Smitten

A while back, my local Winners brought in a large batch of mostly discontinued Zoya polishes, and many were in the orange family. I adore orange, so it was a no-brained for me to grab several.

Pia (ZP411) is a stunning, super juicy bright orange, with loads of fine tangerine and gold shimmer in a semi-sheer, reddish-orange base.

Deconstructing Eden — Pumpkin’s Revenge Indie Perfume Review

[Note: This was meant to be posted on the morning of October 24, 2016, but I hit “Publish” instead of “Preview” by accident, so here we are. I’ll just leave it after I make a few minor changes. Sigh. Happy Monday.]

We’re only one week away from Halloween! I’m not sure that I have enough Halloween-related stuff to review all week, but I’ll boo my best.

I’ve been on a perfume kick over the last few months, sniffing a slew of testers at counters and picking up a range of scents from classic (Guerlain Mitsouko EDP), popular (Diesel Loverdose and Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina EDP), celebuscent (Adam Levine for Women…I know, I know, but it gets great reviews!), niche (Annick Goutal Heure Exquise…well, niche-ish), and modern flanker (Guerlain Insolence Eau Glacée and Givenchy Eaudemoiselle Absolu d’Oranger).

The indie category was unrepresented, so initially I went to my indie go-to, Ava Luxe. Turns out her prices have gone up a lot—not that they’re not worth it, but shipping was also higher and thrift had found me after my aforementioned haulage—so I hit up Etsy.

I’d never bought perfume on Etsy before, or any other makeup, for that matter, so I found some recommendations and reviews off Reddit and the Fragrantica forums. Deconstructing Eden was the store that caught my imagination—and pricing was very fair, including the shipping cost from the US to Canada.

It took approximately two weeks for my order to arrive, which wasn’t bad at all, considering the shop’s stated turnaround time was 1–2 weeks and it had to cross the border.

My order arrived well-packaged and with a couple of freebies! Each vial is also shrinkwrapped in a stiff plastic, which is a bit difficult to remove but it does seem secure.
