Essence recently released a collection of outer space-inspired nail colors, and over the course of several trips to Shoppers Drug Mart, I couldn’t help picking up, well…all of them:
Outta Space Is the Place (01)
Across the Universe (02)
Space Glam (03)
Beam Me Up! (04)
Intergalactic Adventure (05)
We Will Spock You! (06)
1000 Light Years Away (07)
The packaging is very sleek and feels a bit fancier than their usual product packaging, with squared glass bottles and mirror-shine caps. All the shades are also various types of iridescent shimmers and glitters. The price reflects these details, and the 9 mL polishes retail for CA$3.99 instead of the usual $2.99 for the 8 mL Gel Nail Polishes.
Today, I’m reviewing Outta Space Is the Place (01), a pearly iridescent white that is—very happily—opaque!
Julep’s December 2017 collection consists of seven new sparkly shades for the holidays. And, the final addition to their 2017 Zodiac collection is a new shade for my own sign, Sagittarius (November 23–December 21).
Julep have also introduced more Holiday Nail Sets (the first couple are listed in my post about the November 2017 collection). The Royal Suite set and a couple of the smaller sets contain some new shades:
Royal Suite ($42 / Maven $24) consists of 6 new holographic shades in mini 3 mL bottles. Of course, I’ve already bought this!
Essie’s releasing two new collections this winter: the regular Winter 2017 collection and a set of four leather effect polishes in the Leather Collection by Rebecca Minkoff, Essie’s global color ambassador.
I’m a big RM fan (just picked up an iridescent Je t’aime crossbody!) and could not resist picking up the new Leather set from Shoppers Drug Mart (CA$18.99 for four 5 mL minis). This is such an adorable gift for any Rebecca Minkoff fan, as well—even the box is shaped like her iconic MAC bag with dogleash clasp.
The four glossy-matte, subtly shimmery shades are:
Cross-Body Heat, rosy mauve accented with subtle lavender shine
Tote-ally in Love, deep oxblood red with a flash of light crimson
In Hot Purse-uit, a rich indigo blue trimmed with a glowing violet
Back in the Saddle, a polished dark blue-green green cast in silver
From Rebecca Minkoff:
This leather effect nail polish collection is very special to me because it was inspired by my most die-hard fans. I took four of my most iconic leathers and made them into my favorite Essie polishes.
As for the Winter 2017 collection:
Inspired by the incomparable party atmosphere of New Year’s Eve. The magic midnight moment, sealed with a wish and a kiss, manifest in irresistible Essie colour designed for major impact.
Today I have another Essie Gel Couture color sent by one of my favorite online nail polish stores, Nail Polish Canada.
Twill Seeker (80) is from the original Spring 2016 launch, in particular the Atelier collection. It’s one of the shades that definitely caught me eye, as it’s a little different from most of the other Gel Couture shades, which tend to come in cream finishes. This one is a vampy greyed purple with veins of fine green shimmer.
Purple and green combinations are not too unusual these days, but this is a really gorgeously executed version, with an inky purple and subtle glints of green.
Julep’s November 2017 collection consists of seven new frosty, metallic shades for the coming winter. And, of course, the latest addition to their 2017 Zodiac collection is a new shade for the sign of Scorpio (October 23–November 22).
Late last month, Julep also introduced their Holiday sets, which includes two sets of Nail Color minis.
#Coveted ($84 / Maven $48) consists of 3 new and 9 repromoted shades.
