Lancôme’s With Love collection for Spring 2016 includes three new nail polishes in their Vernis in Love line. They’re soft, milky pastels (of course!):
Rose Haussmann (146), a beautiful bluish pink. Jaune Grands Boulevards (149), a lemon yellow with none of the acidity. Bleu Ciel Parisien (153), a subtly veiled azure.
MSRP is for US$15.50 / CA$19 and the bottles contain 6 mL.

I’m sure many of us have been insanely busy over the last month or two, and for me, I’ve finally reached a point where I can heave a sigh of relief and, hopefully, get back on track, blog-wise. I hope you haven’t been terribly bored by my recent non-nail polish related posts on perfume, more perfume, washing your hair in reverse, and handbags! While I enjoy collecting perfume and handbags, I’m no full-fledged perfumista or fashionista.
So, back in late November, I posted Part I of my birthday beauty haulage. In this post, I’ll combine Part II with my Christmas haulage.
I splurged on beauty products for my birthday; less so for Christmas. I tend to receive money for Christmas (our families like do that, including DH and myself simply exchanging Christmas budgets so we don’t have to go through the rigamarole of picking out unwanted gifts for each other), and while I spent a bit of it on beauty products—on sale post-holidays, of course!—I spent a lot of it on two non-beauty products, which I’ll post about at the end.

Without further ado, here’s Part II + Christmas:
November (Part II) & December Haulage
AMOUR & BARIELLE
Amour Nail Lacquer in June Is Here, and Barielle Shades Nail Color in Jess’ Champagne Toast (yeah, I don’t get the name, either! Purple champagne?). Always like trying new brands! I actually have one other Barielle (Jordana’s Skinny Jeans) that I picked up from Winners some time ago, but it’s untried, so this brand remains new to me.
This week’s post lists nail-related sales at the following stores: beautyBOUTIQUE, Clinique Canada, Estée Lauder Canada, Hudson’s Bay, Jean Coutu, Lancôme Canada, MAC Canada, Murale, Rexall, Sephora Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Well.ca.
beautyBOUTIQUE by Shoppers Drug Mart has the following sales:
Dec 14–20: Free express shipping on all orders of $125 or more.
7.5% cashback from eBates Canada on Monday, Dec. 14 (regular amount is 2.5%).
HBC GWP: Free evening bag in your choice of silver or black, with any $100 cosmetic purchase. Cannot be combined with other offers.
Bond No. 9 is 50% off (possibly being cleared out?). This is a fragrance company, but the deal was too good for me to ignore here. I’m not the hugest fan of Bond No. 9, but the deals are great if you are. The online selection is not huge (the famed Chinatown, for example, is not available online); perhaps try in store for more options.
Clinique PWP: 12 Days of Pretty Multi-Treatment Gift Set ($260 value) is $75 with any $31 Clinique purchase
Estée Lauder GWP: 4-pc GWP, featuring your choice of Pleasures or Beautiful fragrance and body lotion, with any $65 Estée Lauder fragrance purchase
Estée Lauder PWP: Blockbuster Colour Edit ($330 value) is $69.50 with any Estée Lauder fragrance purchase (Cyber Monday: $62.55)

Illamasqua is being cleared out. The Nail Varnish is $8.50 (reg. $17.00; available shades: Peruzzi).
Today’s polish is a shade that I nearly picked up on a whim during my last Shoppers Optimum haul, but I decided against it (since I’d already hit my $200 redemption). Soon after, Lancôme Canada held a 20% off Cyber Monday sale plus GWP which, with a whopping 15% cashback from ebates Canada, became a very nice opportunity for me to pick up some gifts and some goodies for myself.
Rouge Midnight (425) is Lancôme’s answer to the “ruby slippers” nail polish. It’s a deeper, neutral red packed with swirly gold shimmer. It’s pretty stunning in person, and in bright light, it definitely gives off a ruby slippers vibe, since the shimmer is less obviously gold once it’s submerged in the red polish.
In dim light, it’s a deep red with a touch of shimmer; bright light really brings out the best in this polish.
Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz (1939). The slippers were silver in the original book by L. Frank Baum, but the filmmakers changed them to red to take advantage of Technicolor. (Bonus: stuff you probably didn’t want to know about the movie.) Image: telegraph.co.uk

Also, I really need to start taking pictures of my products before I use them and they get all grody. Seriously. No one wants to see the mangled Body Shop Body Polish tube I used up!
Here is my list of empties for Fall 2015 (Sept., Oct., and Nov.). All prices are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise specified.
Andalou Naturals Argan & Sweet Orange Moisture Rich Stem Cells Conditioner. I bought this on sale for $7.99 at Well.ca, after I noticed that I was getting a thinning spot on my scalp. Shortly after, I also developed postpartum hair loss, which is just great. (My hair is currently half the thickness it used to be, and I’m anticipating hair growth to return in the form of a mullet.) Now, the Stem Cells claim in this conditioner is pretty much nonsense, because dead fruit stem cells in your hair products aren’t going to make your human hair regrow. That’s ridiculous. I really like the shampoo in this line, but the conditioner is just average. I don’t find that it does anything particularly well or badly, though it does smell nice. One complaint is that it is really, really thick and is hard to squeeze through the small hole in the cap. I wouldn’t repurchase this.
