New Release: The Face Shop — Disney Trendy Nails & Nail Stickers

Collection: The Face Shop, Summer 2016, Disney

Korean brand The Face Shop (owned by LG Electronics!) has released a set of Disney-licensed nail polishes in their Trendy Nails line. The nail polishes and nail stickers themed with Winnie-the-Pooh characters, though the other products in this collection also bear Mickey Mouse and Mike from Monsters Inc.

As an aside, while checking out this collection, I also happened upon a Missha Minions cosmetic collection! There are no nail polishes in it, sadly:

Here’s the Winnie-the-Pooh part of The Face Shop’s Disney collection, with nail polish and nail stickers (isn’t Eeyore an unreasonably happy shade of blue?):

New Release: Color Club — Game Day Duos (Fall 2016) & 20% Off Sale

Collection: Color Club, Fall 2016, Game Day Duos

Here’s Color Club‘s massive new collection of nail polish duos for the U.S. college football fans! A whopping 78 colleges are represented in this set of fully licensed color duos.

My two brothers went to U.S. colleges, but unfortunately, the one who is into sports didn’t go to a represented college (presumably because their football team is crap?) and the one whose alma mater is in the set really hates sports. Well, they also don’t wear nail polish, so I guess this whole exercise is moot.

Anyway, the new collection is called Game Day, and each college gets a two-color duo.

Each bottle is shaped like a little football helmet! (This is a little bit of a shame if you’re into some other sport at your chosen college.) The university logo is also printed on each bottle.

I found that Color Club’s stock photos seem a little off, particularly the oranges, many of which look red. I was entering the shades into the Nail Polish Database (156 colors, what a pain!) and realized (thankfully) early on that some of the “reds” were actually oranges. I mean, I know almost zero about college football, but even I know that Syracuse’s color is orange, not Dayglo red! (Also, weirdly, Northwestern’s duo colors look blue and white, but the actual university color is purple. I’ve no idea.)

In the end, I went and double-checked each university’s team colors on Wikipedia, ’cause I’m a bit anal that way. I’m assuming that it’s Color Club’s photos that are off, and not the actual colors, since these are properly licensed products.Read More »

New Release: Holika Holika — Lazy & Easy Stiquick Nail Kit (Gudetama Nail Stickers)

I’m not terribly knowledgeable when it comes to Japanese kawaii characters, but here’s a Lazy & Easy nail sticker set based on Sanrio’s Gudetama, which depicts a lazy egg. Awwwwrhhh so cute!

From Sanrio:

Eggs are yummy… boiled, baked or raw. There are many ways to make an egg, but eggs are so lazy (gude gude in Japanese). Look closely and you will see the eggs that you eat lack spunk.

New Release: Etude House — Berry Delicious Collection (Spring 2016)

Collection: Etude House 2016 Spring, Berry Delicious

Korean beauty brand Etude House has released a limited edition Spring 2016 collection called Berry Delicious. I’m assuming the 10 nail polishes included in this makeup collection are called Strawberry Souffle Nail, though I don’t know what makes it different from Etude House’s regular Play Nail line. Souffle makes me think of something fluffy and bouncy!

You can see the stock swatches of 10 shades here.

Unfortunately, the polishes don’t seem to have any names: just numbers. There appear to be four cream shades, three confetti shades, and three shimmer shades.
