Just a reminder that Sephora’s VIB Sale just started today (that’s 20% off from Nov. 13–16, 2015 with the code VIP20). And don’t forget eBates! I got 4% with eBates Canada.
Last Friday, I posted my Sephora wishlist, and here is what I finally ordered tonight. Yes, I stayed up until nearly 3 A.M. EST for the VIB sale. The code actually started working for me at about 2:45. I’m also glad I got in early, because one of the items I ordered—an Ardency Inn eyeshadow duo, and yeah I know I didn’t want to get more eyeshadow!—went out-of-stock almost immediately afterward.
Apart from a few items that I hadn’t 100% decided on (Sephora Formula X Nail Color in Alchemy II, Burberry Lip Velvet in Oxblood, Dior Vernis in Be Dior), everything I really wanted was in stock.
Here’s the damage (this is all coming from my birthday fund this month, and I kept it under C$100):
Sephora’s VIB Rouge Sale just started today (that’s 20% off from Nov. 6–9, 2015 with the code ROUGE20).
Next weekend, VIB members get 20% off with the code VIB20. That’s the group that I fall into, so I’ve been plotting my purchases.
I’m supposed to be on a no-buy until December, but that was ill-advised, since November is my birthmonth, plus all those great fall sales start now! Aaargh.
I’ll just end my low-buy a bit early! I mean, I probably won’t even receive anything I order until late November, anyway. Right?
Here’s my tentative shopping bag. I don’t think all of these things will make it into the final order, and I certainly hope the stuff I really want (the Bésame lipstick in Merlot that I’ve been coveting finally showed up!) doesn’t sell out!
‘Cause I need more nail polish and lipstick like I need a hole in the head…
As we are entering the fall months on this first day of September—though fall doesn’t technically begin here in Canada until September 23—I thought it would be a very responsible idea to enter a low-buy for the upcoming season. After all, I’ve gotta start saving money for those post-holiday deals, right?
Plus, the Canadian dollar is so weak at the moment, and prices are slowly going up. We’re down to 75¢ to the US dollar, guys! It hasn’t been this low since the 90s, I think.
So I have resolved to “shop my stash” more and stop buying so much bloody nail polish until December. You might start to see reviews of things I bought over a year ago…
To get myself in the mood for a low-buy, here’s a roundup of my Winners purchases since about April. That’s about five months, basically since my last Winners haul post, so this post is really more like: Purchases for the Second Half of Spring, and Summer.
Now, I love shopping at the TJ Maxx stores (that’s Winners and HomeSense in Canada, though we also recently got Marshalls, too). They’re obviously a bit hit/miss, but the hits can be fantastic!
I was on a plummy/berry lipstick kick over the last year, and simultaneously bought NARS Vera and Givenchy Le Rouge in Framboise Velours. They turned out to be nearly the same lipstick color. I have to do a little more research, next time!
I slightly prefer the Audacious Lipstick over this Le Rouge, partly because Vera suits me a bit better due to its warmer tone, but also because I feel the Audacious formula is slightly superior.
Last fall, NARS launched a new line of lipsticks, Audacious, priced a little higher than the regular NARS lipsticks. I picked up Vera from Sephora, and if all the shades perform the way Vera does, then Audacious Lipsticks are well worth the price hike.
I was on a plummy/berry lipstick kick over the last year, and simultaneously bought NARS Vera and Givenchy Le Rouge in Framboise Velours. They turned out to be nearly the same lipstick color. I have to do a little more research, next time! I feel that I slightly prefer Vera, so I’m reviewing it first.
This haul does include a nail polish, so I think I’m within my rights to post it! Heehee.
I have a Winners (TJ Maxx/Marshalls in the US, and TK Maxx in the UK & Ireland) very near to where I live, so it can be quite difficult to avoid going there a lot.
What I found today (not what I bought!):
A mini red Alexander McQueen shoulder bag that I saw there last week, too. They want something like $1,300 for it. Eep!
NARS on clearance. I saw Coup de Coeur lipgloss for about $14, but I am always leery of buying lipgloss at Winners since it may have been opened and contaminated by other shoppers. Also, they had a few Multiples, and Space Odyssey nail lacquer for $13 or so, but I am not paying that much for silver glitter.
Some cute Badgley Mischka wallets, some with bows, some quilted, and some with floral prints on saffiano leather. They were all continental zips like this one, but I don’t like that style of wallet for myself. If the floral wallet was a turnlock, like this one (yes, I know the one in the pic is a handbag!), I’d have been sorely tempted @ $79.99! Not that I need a new wallet.
