Olympia Le-Tan x Lancôme LE Fall 2017 Collection, Olympia's Wonderland Icon Palette

New Release: Olympia Le-Tan × Lancôme – Olympia’s Wonderland Icon Palette (Fall 2017)

No nail polish in this collaboration between Lancôme and clutch book designer Olympia Le-Tan (though I do want to try some from the recent Lancôme collection), but this Icon Palette is so pretty that I wanted to post it!

Olympia’s Wonderland Icon Palette, Limited Edition for Fall 2017, contains 4 eyeshadows, blush, and four lip colors in the form of lipstick powder. Very old school, no?

Olympia Le Tan and Lancôme unveil a wildly desirable collector’s item: the first make-up palette to perfectly mirror the designer’s minaudière clutch-books. Just like the handbags that inspired it, this unprecedented palette is sheathed in cotton embroideries patterned like the cover of an antique book. An imaginary book, as it happens…

Inside, blusher, eyeshadow and lipsticks bring back the glamour of the Fifties with an ultra-contemporary twist. An important detail to note: each of these shades is a reworked version of a colour Olympia Le-Tan chose from Lancôme’s archives and updated.

Eyeshadows:

  • Nommé Désir 1971 (muted white)
  • Paradis 1956 (deep burgundy)
  • Brun Nacré 1965 (slightly iridescent taupe)
  • Gris Argent 1988 (glittery steel)

Lip Powders (to be used over La Base 1960):

  • Rouge de Rose 1955 (cold violet)
  • Olympia 1980 (flamboyant red)
  • Anémone 1959 (cherry)
  • Couture 1962 (vintage rose)

Other:

  • Pink blush, embossed with a ribbon motif taken from a 1950s Lancôme powder compact
  • La Base 1960 (universal colour-fixative base)
  • Double-ended makeup brush

The palette retails for CA$100.

The collection also includes lip-shaped lipstick bullets! I don’t see them on the Lancôme Canada website yet, however.

Happy Shopping!

fivezero's ColourPop haulage (June 2017)

Haulage! ColourPop — Pressed Powder Shadows (June 2017)

So, back in May, ColourPop ran this amazing promotion that offered all of their eyeshadows at 3/$10 (really it ended up being 3/$9.99), plus a free mini Ultra Satin Lip for every $20 spent, plus—and this was the real kicker for me—free international shipping on all orders.

You see, while ColourPop do offer free shipping to Canada on orders of $50 and up, this is still not that great for Canadians. Not ColourPop’s fault, of course! They’re awesome for even offering free shipping to Canada, at all!

The issue is that Canada charges duties on imports which value a measly CA$20 and up, which is about US$15 at the moment. By comparison, the US exempts duties for imports valued at $800 and under.

This means that for Canadians, a US$50 / CA$66.67 order will likely end up getting charged $10 for Canada Post’s handling, plus tax, which for me in Ontario would be 13%, around $8.71. Also, if customs don’t notice that ColourPop’s products are all made in the US, and therefore eligible for NAFTA, they might tack on an additional duty of around $5. That means a US$50 order just became CA$66.67 + CA$23.71 = CA$90.38 (or US$67.79). Stinks, right?

But Canadian customs officers are busy, so they don’t bother to charge on every single package that comes through (though I have heard that more packages are getting stopped due to an ongoing fentanyl problem). So, packages with values around US$20 are less likely to be stopped and charged.

I got super excited about finally being able to order from ColourPop without being charged an arm and a leg for shipping and duties—and to top it off, ColourPop was running a fab sale!—so I placed four separate orders, ranging in value from US$22 to $35. I was lucky and not one of them got hit for duties. Phew!

ColourPop’s packages always arrive in adorable-on-the-inside boxes, and the contents are securely wrapped. My kids are enjoying playing around with the colorful boxes. (Boxes are better than toys any day, right?)

My orders included a combination of Super Shock Shadows, Pressed Powder Shadows, and Ultra Lips in various finishes.

This post just covers the Pressed Powder Shadows. I picked up thirteen shades:

  1. Backseat (Metallic, deepened aquamarine)
  2. Ego (Metallic, rosy taupe)
  3. High Strung (Metallic, dusty rose)
  4. Locked and Loaded (Matte, pale yellow)
  5. Made to Last (Matte, neutral mauve)
  6. Pebbles (Satin, yellowy pink)
  7. Pinky Promise (Metallic, wine)
  8. Play by Play (Metallic, duochrome peach with a green gold flip)
  9. Ringer (Metallic, warm champagne)
  10. Sauvage (Metallic, duochrome peach with a hot pink flip)
  11. Sideline (Metallic, duochrome eggplant with a green flip)
  12. Take a Break (Metallic, duochrome peach with a subtle gold flip)
  13. Up and Up (Metallic, duochrome teal with a green flip)

Shoppers Drug Mart Spend Your Points Event (April 29-30, 2017)

Sale Alert: Shoppers Drug Mart’s Spend Your Points Event (April 29–30, 2017)

This weekend (April 29–30, 2017), Canada’s Shoppers Drug Mart is offering a Spend Your Points Event!

Spend the following Optimum Points and receive:

  • 50,000 points for $100 off (extra $15)
  • 95,000 points for $200 off (extra $30)

This offer is also available online at SDM’s beautyBOUTIQUE. Don’t forget ebates.ca (referral link)!

Search for your closest Shoppers Drug Mart beautyBOUTIQUE by brand here.

Here are links to some of my past Optimum Points hauls:

I have a lot of points accumulated, and decided I don’t want to hang on to too many at once (should Loblaw decide to change the Optimum Points system). I redeemed twice for $200! Whee! Optimum Points get racked up a lot faster if you load the personalized coupons every week.

Here’s my haul. I was good and didn’t get any lipstick! But I did get nail polish (of course), eyeshadow, lipgloss (doesn’t count!), and foundation. I only had to pay the excess beyond $200 ($1 on the first order, $2 on the second!) and 13% HST (sales tax) on the full amounts—and of course I redeemed 2 x 95k Optimum Points. I also received a bonus 10k points for spending $100 on Clinique skincare. I think it’s nice that they let you get the bonuses even when you’re just redeeming points and not “really” spending money.

Haulage! Sephora VIB Sale (April 2017)

Sephora’s annual spring sale started yesterday for VIB Rouge members, and the VIB sale starts today! I’m VIB so I just did my shopping. Everyone else (Beauty Insiders) can get 10% off starting tomorrow.

The sale runs from April 18 through 24, 2017.

VIB ROUGE (April 18–24)

My total order was over $100, so I split up my order into two $50+ orders so I could get twice the samples (you get 3 per order) and still receive free shipping in Canada. I waited a few hours in between the orders so that Sephora refreshed the samples and I could find three more I wanted.

Unfortunately, there weren’t any Rewards I wanted to redeem my Sephora Points for.

Here’s what I ended up getting (prices are in CA$ and are pre-15% off discount):

Haulage! Drugstores & Cosmetic Love (Oct 2016 & Feb–Mar 2017)

Finally, everyone in the household is on the road to recovery! I managed to stay relatively illness-free, except for once when I think I might have given myself food poisoning and had an upset stomach for a night. We were all so overwhelmed over the last week and a half that my husband actually had to remind me that we forgot about our 17th wedding anniversary over the weekend.

I should really get my computer to remind me about stuff like this.

So, we celebrated last night with some dinner delivered and half a movie (The Nice Guys, if you’re interested—and that’s how we have to roll nowadays, early to bed). Plus, we’ll add a li’l anniversary money to our fun budgets!

Speaking of fun budgets, here’s some stuff I hauled over the last couple of months from drugstores. And I’m including some stuff I got from Cosmetic Love late last year, but totally forgot about under my desk.

All prices are what I paid, not necessarily the MSRP.

Nails Inc. Superfood Nail Fuel Collection

Haulage! Sephora Fall Sale (November 2016)

Time for annual Sephora haulage! It’s hard to pass up 20% off, even when I haven’t been shopping much at Sephora all year.

Ugh, you know it’s winter when everyone starts getting sick! My husband started feeling a little under the weather yesterday, and this morning poor Peanut started feeling badly, too. A couple of barf-ups later, he’s much better—I have a sinking feeling it’s a norovirus-kind of bug. We all got hit with it around December last year, and I hate it. I remember hugging the toilet half the night, yet not actually barfing. I hope I don’t come down with it again (if I do, it’ll probably be tonight! Joy!) and especially that our little infant Olive doesn’t get affected.

Anyway, on to the fun stuff. (Cleaning up barf? Not fun.) I posted my first order here; also, just before the sale ended, I snuck in one extra order! Here are all the goodies from both orders:

  • Deborah Lippmann Her Majesty Gel Lab Pro Set (8 color polishes + Hard Rock base & top coat)
  • Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder in Translucent
  • Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Lip Color in Bloodroses Noir
  • Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in C406
  • Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer in Sally
  • Nails Inc. Superfood Nail Fuel Collection (4 color polishes + NailKale Superfood Base Coat)
  • NARS Audacious Lipstick in Audrey
  • Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette
  • Urban Decay Pro Essential Brush Stash

Freebies:

  • Fresh Soy Face Cleanser & Rose Face Mask (Sephora Birthday 2016 deluxe samples)
  • Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil Cologne Absolue EDP (sample)
  • Atelier Cologne Mandarine Glaciale Cologne Absolue EDP (sample)
  • Maison Margiela Replica: Lipstick On EDT (sample)
  • Marc Jacobs Decadence EDP (sample)
  • Versace Bright Crystal EDT (sample)they didn’t send this! 😦
  • Versace Eros Pour Femme EDP (sample)

And with this haul, I am VIB for 2017, as well.

I actually still have a couple Deborah Lippmann sets to go through from previous years (yes, not one but two). I promise to go through them SOON! Aaaack. Also, super excited to try the new Gel Lab Pro line in this set.

Sephora Fall Sale: My Haulage!

As I’m VIB at Sephora this year, I finally got to place my order with the 20% off 20VIB code today!

I haven’t spent much at Sephora this year, and it was a bit of a struggle to try to get VIB for next year. Part of me wonders if I should have bothered, but Sephora’s semi-annual sale coincides with my birthday month and it gets so tempting to splurge!

Here’s what I ordered (with 4% ebates cashback, as well):

My final shopping cart. (Prices not yet reflecting 20% VIB discount.)

I chose the Fresh skincare birthday gift instead of the Marc Jacobs makeup gift, since I already have the eyeliner in the Marc Jacobs set. The lipstick would have been nice to have, but it’s just a red, and I have enough of those!Read More »
