I had some time to kill at a couple of drugstores recently, while I hunted for a new foundation, so here are more foundation swatches I did, plus some photos of new collections I spotted.
Brands covered: Cutex, Joe Fresh, L’Oréal, Pixi by Petra, Sensationail, and Vasanti.
First, the foundation swatches!
Joe Fresh – Daily Boost Fluid Foundation
This foundation seemed a little too shiny, but the consistency was pretty nice and smooth. It’s not too thick nor too pigmented. I appear to be in-between shades Bisque and Sand. Sand looks like it’d be a nice summer foundation for me. The three shades I swatched are all quite yellow-based, no peachiness.
L’Oréal – Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation
I really liked the texture of this foundation: not too liquidy and it blended into my dry skin nicely. The finish was very pretty and natural-looking. I’ve had luck with some other L’Oréal liquid foundations (True Match and True Match Lumi), so I think I’ll have to try this one, soon. $20 on sale is still a bit much, though. What’s going on at the drugstore?!
Pixi by Petra is another cosmetic company that I hadn’t heard of until I received one of their products in my Ipsy bag (referral link) this month. They’re based in the UK and while they have a link to their US site, I couldn’t get it to display prices in USD.
(I also just noticed that they have nail polish, as well, so I am adding them to the Nail Polish Library today! I hope you’ll check it out if you haven’t already.)
When I first saw the little pressed powder duo, I admit that I wasn’t entirely sure whether it was an eyeshadow duo or perhaps a blush/bronzer. It isn’t clear on the packaging! A quick check on Pixi’s website told me that their Mesmerizing Mineral is in fact eyeshadow, and it only comes in a 6-color palette. The duo I got from Ipsy isn’t on their site. They only have five palettes, and I can only assume the Apricot Glow duo I received is selected from their Copper Peach palette, though I suppose there’s a possibility it’s from the Emerald Gold palette.
I signed up with Ipsy (referral link) last fall, and while I have at times considered canceling my monthly subscription, I have to say that it’s still kind of fun to get a mystery goody bag each month. As I have submitted reviews over time, the items I receive in my Glam Bag, as they call it, get more and more in tune with what I actually like and will use.
Lately, it’s actually gotten to the point where they will send me something that I’m both happy and disappointed to be receiving, simply because I have just purchased a similar item. For example, last month, they sent me a Mitchell & Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil, when I had only recently bought a Josie Maran Argan Oil mini to try for the first time.
This month, I purchased a Milani eyebrow highlighter just to try out this type of product, also for the first time. Lo and behold, this month’s Ipsy bag contains a pencil highlighter by Chella. I think that I should refrain from buying anything new each month until my Ipsy bag arrives!
