Olympia Le-Tan x Lancôme LE Fall 2017 Collection, Olympia's Wonderland Icon Palette

New Release: Olympia Le-Tan × Lancôme – Olympia’s Wonderland Icon Palette (Fall 2017)

No nail polish in this collaboration between Lancôme and clutch book designer Olympia Le-Tan (though I do want to try some from the recent Lancôme collection), but this Icon Palette is so pretty that I wanted to post it!

Olympia’s Wonderland Icon Palette, Limited Edition for Fall 2017, contains 4 eyeshadows, blush, and four lip colors in the form of lipstick powder. Very old school, no?

Olympia Le Tan and Lancôme unveil a wildly desirable collector’s item: the first make-up palette to perfectly mirror the designer’s minaudière clutch-books. Just like the handbags that inspired it, this unprecedented palette is sheathed in cotton embroideries patterned like the cover of an antique book. An imaginary book, as it happens…

Inside, blusher, eyeshadow and lipsticks bring back the glamour of the Fifties with an ultra-contemporary twist. An important detail to note: each of these shades is a reworked version of a colour Olympia Le-Tan chose from Lancôme’s archives and updated.

Eyeshadows:

  • Nommé Désir 1971 (muted white)
  • Paradis 1956 (deep burgundy)
  • Brun Nacré 1965 (slightly iridescent taupe)
  • Gris Argent 1988 (glittery steel)

Lip Powders (to be used over La Base 1960):

  • Rouge de Rose 1955 (cold violet)
  • Olympia 1980 (flamboyant red)
  • Anémone 1959 (cherry)
  • Couture 1962 (vintage rose)

Other:

  • Pink blush, embossed with a ribbon motif taken from a 1950s Lancôme powder compact
  • La Base 1960 (universal colour-fixative base)
  • Double-ended makeup brush

The palette retails for CA$100.

The collection also includes lip-shaped lipstick bullets! I don’t see them on the Lancôme Canada website yet, however.

Happy Shopping!

China Glaze x My Little Pony collection (Summer 2017)

New Release: China Glaze — My Little Pony “Color Is Magic” (Summer 2017)

Collection: China Glaze 2017 Summer, My Little Pony “Color Is Magic”

I never knew I needed this. China Glaze’s new Summer 2017 collection is a collaboration with Hasbro’s My Little Pony.

I don’t actually watch the newer cartoon, but I did watch the original—yeah, I’m old school. I never had many toys as a kid, but I did have at least two My Little Ponies: I remember a white Pegasus-type and a coral unicorn. (This Moondancer unicorn does look extremely familiar, though, so maybe they were both unicorns—or I had a third pony.) My mom recently packed up a bunch of my old toys and brought them to me, and one of my ponies survived all these years:

Hasbro My Little Pony (1980s) Speedy G1 Year 4
How’s this for a Throwback Thursday post?

I just looked up my pony and apparently her name is Speedy, and she’s from the Twinkle Eyed Ponies collection released in Hasbro’s My Little Pony G1 line, Year 4 (circa 1985–86). Now that I look at the original packaging in that link, I totally remember that yellow star/rainbow comb!

Oh crap look at this. I definitely had three ponies. Moondancer, Speedy, and this Pegasus, Firefly. Ahhhh what a trip down memory lane. I wonder what ever happened to the other two.

I will always prefer the vintage pony design to the new one, but I understand that the new one is super popular. Still, this reminds me that I really need to watch the Brony documentary

Anyway, the new collection consists of 12 + 2 new shades in a range of shades and finishes.

As the authority on nail colour, China Glaze has taken center stage at NYFW alongside the most coveted designers in the industry. Notably, our Spring/Summer 2016 collaboration with DEGEN featured nails inspired by the ever-enchanting My Little Pony. This match made in fashion week heaven was the prelude to a pony-filled collaboration with Hasbro that we like to call Colour is Magic….

Bésame Classic Color Lipstick in Red Velvet

Bésame — Red Velvet (Classic Color Lipstick) Swatch & Review

Sephora Canada recently started selling Bésame Cosmetics online, and despite the fact that I already own quite a lot of red lipsticks, I had to have one. Honestly, how do you pass up retro-inspired lipsticks that come in this packaging?!

Bésame Classic Color Lipstick in Red Velvet

Beautiful, right? It’s even slightly smaller than today’s typical lipstick tubes, since that is generally how vintage lipstick cases were made. (The lipstick bullet itself weighs 3.5 g, which is standard for today’s lipsticks, so you’re not getting less product. Just a cuter tube!)

Even the box is pretty:

Bésame’s lipsticks are all based on actual lipstick colors that were made between the 1920s and 1960s (presumably in the US). There is a nice little write-up about the making of their lipsticks on their About Us page.
